State Rep. John H. Rogers and State Sen. Mike Rush have filed numerous bills and made repeated requests of Executive Office of Health and Human Services Leadership and the Governor.
In early November, a meeting was held at the State House, attended by representatives from Norwood, organized labor, Rep. Rogers, Sen. Rush, and Congressman Stephen Lynch. Congressman Lynch is well versed on the topic — remarking that he had heard from HHS Secretary Kate Walsh that Massachusetts has “too many hospital beds”. Of course, no one in the region agrees with that, and it appears to contradict not only the reality on the ground but other
DPH/HHS considerations.
The early November meeting was left with a letter being mutually signed and hand-delivered to the Governor asking for a meeting.
In late January 2025, Norwood General Manager Tony Mazzucco and Congressman Lynch met with Gov. Maura Healey to discuss Norwood Hospital.
